Wall and Floor Tiling Level 2 Apprenticeship at Northumberland College

Course description

This course is for anyone who is employed as a tiler who would like to develop their skills and knowledge to become a qualified wall and floor tiler. Experienced tilers can complete a fast track Apprenticeship framework in order to gain fully qualified status. This will be dependent on existing skills and knowledge.

Course content

You will study how to store resources ready for use, how to erect and dismantle working platforms, setting out for tiling installation, preparation of background surfaces, position and finish wall and floor tiles to surfaces, repair and maintain wall and floor tiling and lay screeding for floor tiling. Ideal if you are employed as a wall and floor tiler and wish to develop your skills and gain a recognised qualififcation.

Entry requirements

You should have two GCSEs at grade D, or a relevant Level 1 qualification and be employed in the industry.


Your progress will be assessed by practical and knowledge assignments, additional work based assessments will be carried out by our assessment team.

Future opportunities

After successfully completing the course you could progress onto a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Wall and Floor Tiling which will build skills and knowledge to an advanced level in building and construction methods, environmentally friendly practices and training in mosaic and natural stone tiling.
