Performing Arts: Level 2 UAL Diploma at NESCOT

Course description

This introductory practical course is a very good way for you to start to prepare yourself for the future. You will learn about acting, dance and the voice to develop your skills in performing. You will work with others in your group on practical assignments which will encourage you to develop your own ideas and perform to audiences.

Course content

This course will introduce you to the important things you need to know about if you want to work in the performing arts business. You will learn about acting and devising plays. You will also learn about rehearsals and how important they are to a successful a production through team work and collaboration. Your performance skills and confidence will develop whilst you work on your exciting and imaginative assignments.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at D or above including English, or Level 1 Diploma plus English.

You will also be asked to attend an audition where you will be required to perform a rehearsed scripted monologue, dance or song.

Future opportunities

You may wish to progress to a specialist National programme in Performing Arts, Media or Design if you have achieved merit in your First Diploma. Alternatively you may progress into jobs such as working in a box office or front of theatre. You can also seek employment as a performer or in arts administration.

    • By Road:
      Nescot is located just off the A240 (Reigate Road), close to the junction with the A24 (Ewell Bypass).  The College is just five miles inside the M25 (Junction 9).
      There is a large, free car park for use by students and visitors.

      By Rail:
      Nescot is served by two mainline railway stations.
      Ewell East (Southern Railway)
      Ewell East is a two-minute walk from the College from a public footpath leading off Platform 2.  Trains run every half-hour from London Victoria.
      Ewell West (South West Trains)
      Ewell West, which is 15 minutes walk from the College, is on the main line from London Waterloo.
