Course description

Ideal for anyone with a passion for all things beauty and a desire to learn more about the skills and techniques involved, this Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies is the perfect place to start developing the knowledge and expertise you’ll need to be successful in this industry. During this course, you’ll spend time focusing on a range of different beauty therapy treatments, covering all parts of the body. You’ll explore facial skin care and eyelash/eyebrow treatments, waxing techniques for hair removal, and manicure & pedicure skills, alongside all the important aspects of working in a salon such as health & safety, and communicating with clients. As well the mandatory units, you’ll also get the chance to study additional topics, in order to make up the credits you need for this diploma. You may choose to look at self-tanning techniques or how to pierce ears, or focus on make-up application or threading skills, all depending on your preferred interests and passions.

Entry requirements

To enrol on this Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies, you’ll need to have at least three GSCEs at grades A*-C, including both English and a creative GCSE. Assessment

Throughout the duration of this course, you’ll be assessed in a number of different ways, including regular practical and written work, written tests, assignments and practical observations. You’ll build up a portfolio of evidence (that will include pre-observations and final tests), and take part in a work placement to gain relevant industry experience.

    • North Manchester Sixth Form is a friendly, vibrant sixth form centre offering courses for school leavers. There are a wide range of courses to choose from, including acting, medical sciences, childcare, business, film production and forensics. The comfortable, environmentally friendly site is made up of a bright modern building and the restored Harpurhey Baths. There is plenty of space to socialise and a large garden. Many of the facilities at North Manchester Sixth Form are open to the community.

      Harpurhey Baths is a Grade II listed building and part of North Manchester Sixth Form. The college has transformed the building into an award-winning exhibition space for students and the community.

      North Manchester Sixth Form is in Harpurhey, a suburb three miles north of central Manchester. There are a large market, supermarket, shops, fast food chains and a post office nearby. North Manchester Sixth Form is close to Queens Park and Boggart Hole Clough, large community parks hosting events throughout the year. Queens Park has a children’s playground. North City Family and Fitness Centre is five minutes’ walk away and has a health suite and swimming pool.
