Sport BTEC Subsidiary Diploma Level 3 ( equivalent to 1 A Level ) at The John Wallis Church of England Academy
The course consists of seven units over two years and is equivalent to 1 A level.
• Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
• The Physiology of fitness
• Assessing Risk in Sport
• Fitness testing for sport and exercise
• Practical Team/Individual Sports
• Work Experience in Sport
• Sports Coaching
This course also will help students develop their functional skills (ICT, Mathematics and English) and their personal, learning and thinking skills.
The course is mainly assignment based through a range of method including; presentations, video logs, diary entries, case studies and work experience.
100% coursework/assignment based (NO EXAMS). There are seven units over two years.
GCSE in Physical Education (A*-C) and/or BTEC First in Sport (Pass – Distinction*) is recommended.
The course provides students with an understanding of the essential skills needed when looking to build a career in the sports sector. The qualification will give students insight into the various different occupational routes you can take within the sector, plus help you to progress in existing employment, or move on to further study. With the international recognition of BTEC courses such as this, you can progress straight into employment. If successful there are a wide variety of prospective careers that you can explore, for example: leisure centre assistant, pool/beach lifeguard or sports development officer. With further study, students can develop their knowledge, which could lead to even more employment opportunities in the sport and exercise industry, such as fitness instructing/personal training, sports coaching and teaching
