Law AS and A Level at Alder Grange Community and Technology School

Course description

The study of Law is interesting and informative for both those students who want a sound foundation for a career as a solicitor or a barrister, or those who simply wish to study something new. As a Law student you will get a valuable overview of the law as well as developing research and communication skills and learning the logic behind legal thinking.

Course content

You will cover the following subject areas across both years:

  • How and why laws are made
  • The judicial system
  • Criminal law (fatal and non-fatal offences, property offences)
  • Civil law of negligence (tort)
  • Current legal issues such as law, morality and justice.

As part of the course we visit real courts to watch criminal proceedings.

Entry requirements

C or 5 in English.

    • Alder Grange Sixth Form (ag6) opened as a new Sixth Form in 2010. Since then we have recruited students from across Rossendale and beyond on to a range of both A Level and BTEC level 3 courses. We have been delighted that our results have improved year on year and that Alder Grangers have successfully moved on from Sixth Form to University or the world of work in areas ranging from Music Production and Zoology to Teaching and Engineering. We have developed a strong sense of community and a warm, caring and supportive ethos.
