Mathematics A2 level at Malmesbury School

Course description

The full ‘A’ level course consists of six equally weighted units.  An AS can be awarded for the completion of three units.

The Core mathematics modules will deepen and extend students’ knowledge of algebra. They will also be introduced to new areas of mathematics such as calculus, infinite series, numerical methods etc.

The Statistics module will enable students to gain an understanding of the process of mathematical modelling and statistical testing.  Examples of topics that are studied include probability, correlation and regression, and normal distribution.

Mechanics deals with the motion of objects and how they respond to forces acting on them.

Assessment

All units are equally weighted (16 2/3%). All examination papers are 1½ hrs.
