Health & Social Care BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Havering College of Further and Higher Education

Course description

You will study six units that will provide an overview of the care industries and enable you to gain a good working knowledge and understanding of the various roles within the sector.

You will work to generate evidence for a personal and professional portfolio that will demonstrate your development over the duration of the course.

Course content

Throughout the course you will study the following:

  • Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care
  • Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care
  • Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care

There will also be three additional units that will be handpicked by the lecturing staff to provide you with a broader understanding of the industry.

If you have not yet achieved a grade C (or above) in GCSE English and maths, you will be required to attend GCSE resit sessions (if you achieved grade D) or functional skills sessions (if you achieved grade E or below).

Entry requirements

  • At least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (including English and maths)
  • A DBS criminal record check (£44 to process)

A BTEC first diploma in a related subject at merit level will also be accepted.

Assessment

You will complete practical projects and written assignments that are based on realistic work place situations.

Future opportunities

You could progress onto a diploma or national certificate in a health & social care related subject.

Employment opportunities may involve work as a practitioner in the health & social care sector.
