Engineering BTEC Diploma Level 3 at St Helens College

Course description

This advanced course strengthens the knowledge and skills gained at level 2, covering everything from mathematics for engineers, mechanical systems and electro, pneumatic and hydraulic systems to engineering drawing, maintenance and production systems design.

Course content

  • Engineering principles
  • Delivery of engineering processes safely as a team
  • Engineering product design and manufacture
  • Applied commercial and quality principles in engineering
  • A specialist engineering project

The below units are optional:

  • Further engineering mathematics
  • Computer aided design
  • Electrical installation of hardware and cables
  • Maintenance of mechanical systems
  • Mechanical behaviour of metallic materials

Entry requirements

You should have five GCSEs at grade C or above, including maths and science.

English and maths forms an important part of your future, ensuring you achieve the best success in your chosen career. But don't worry, if you haven't got the desired grades, we will still have a course available for you.

Assessment

You will be assessed by internally set tests and assignments.

Financial information

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2016), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation.

Future opportunities

Upon completion of this course, you could continue with your studies by progressing on to the engineering HNC/HND at University Centre St Helens.

Alternatively, you may want to look for work in the industry within engineering or could even progress onto a higher apprenticeship and earn while you learn.
