Course description

AS Level

  • Portfolio of work
    This component focuses on the development of understanding and skills using a range of appropriate materials, processes and techniques. Students should produce a collection of work carried out during the course.
  • Externally Set Assignment
    The externally set assignment includes a preparatory period plus 10 hours of supervise time. Students are expected to choose from a set theme to complete their work.

A Level

  • Personal Investigation
    Candidates are required to conduct a practical investigation into an idea, issue, concept or theme, supported by written material.
  • Externally Set Assignment
    The externally set assignment includes a preparatory period plus 15 hours of supervise time. Students are expected to choose from a set theme to complete their work.

Assessment

  • Portfolio of work requires candidates to produce a collection of work based on the skills they have learnt. Internally assessed by the centre and externally moderated by AQA.
  • Personal Investigation requires candidates to critically research and present their findings to a chosen theme. Internally assessed by the centre and externally moderated by AQA.
  • Externally Set Assignment/s is a response to an assignment set by the exam board. Internally marked, externally moderated by AQA.
