Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 at Canterbury College

Course description

These qualifications will provide an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools. Although this is a one year course learners will be in the workplace for two days a week.

Course content

You will learning about children and young people's development, safeguarding their welfare and communication.

 

Entry requirements

You should be at least 16 years old, have GCSE English and Maths minimum grade D and a Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or Early Years. You will be expected to continue with English and Maths GCSE as part of this study programme if below a C grade.

 

Assessment

You will be assessed by your tutor and assessor using a range of methods. This will include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments and tasks.

 

Future opportunities

This will lead to employment as a Senior Teaching Assistant, Senior Learning Support Assistant, Senior Special Educational Needs Assistant. Students could also apply for the Higher Level Teaching Assistance course.

 

Further information

Students will need a DBS and a T-Shirt for placement which costs £10.00. All students applying for this course will need to attend the compulsory two day assessment.
