Course description

This subject offers you the opportunity to study and produce different types of creative and professional writing. A level Creative Writing is not solely the production of literary texts; you could indeed write stories, poems and plays, but you might equally produce journalism, creative nonfiction and web content.

Course content

At AS Level students complete two pieces of coursework which is presented in an integrated folder. In the examination, students are expected to write to a given brief. At A2, students produce an extended piece of writing. The examination requires students to use the stimulus material provided to produce their own piece of writing.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs A-C grade including Maths and English

Students should have at least a Grade C in GCSE English Language.

Assessment

At both AS Level and A2 Level, the coursework and examination are each worth 50% of the total marks. Students will be able to practise and improve their examination skills during the course.
