Course description

Based within the Miskin Theatre, the Level 3 Diploma In Music offers access to high end professional training and facilities delivered by a diverse range of experienced industry practitioners. Trainees work towards performances and shows with an emphasis on the vocational requirements of an ever changing industry. Suitable for aspiring performers, session musicians, composers, music therapists, music teachers. Rated as a grade 1 (outstanding) course by Ofsted.

Course content

This course is based on an industrial model via our production company, Miskin Music.Miskin Music produces a diverse array of live music productions. Trainees participate in 'real world' professional processes with an emphasis on attracting audiences and consumers. Musicians will undertake projects which mirror the demands of this exciting and ever changing industry. Evolving areas such as viral marketing, and the productive use of social networking are central to our working ethos. Trainees will also develop and refine an online portfolio/personal website, increasingly seen as a vital resource for progression either into university or employment. A recognition and understanding of career paths and employment opportunities are embedded in our work, offering trainees an insight into composition, performance techniques, theory and harmony, event management/music business, and basic music technology.Projects/processes include;Theatre composition and performanceComposing for filmLive performance techniquesStudio performance techniquesSongwritingAural Perception techniques Music Industry Management Live event marketing and promotion Sound recording techniques

Entry requirements

5 GCSE (at Grades A - C) or equivalent. Reasonable Intrument/Vocal Skills (To be assessed via audition)

Financial information

£150 per year Miskin company contribution. Cost of materials (instrument maintenance, strings, sticks etc, portable hard drive).
