Hairdressing for Cutting and Styling Technicians Level 3 Diploma at Epping Forest College
This advanced level course is suitable for those who have achieved Level 2 and have practical experience of working in a salon. You will specialise in cutting and styling.
Your success and enjoyment of the course is important to us and we train only to the highest professional industry standards in every aspect including salon behaviour and professional ethics; dress code; attendance and punctuality; salon cleanliness, hygiene and maintenance of equipment and tools; salon efficiency and client care; selling and promotions as well as the technical skills of a variety of industry services, in order to ensure you are prepared fully for the demands of employment in the industry.
Therefore, to be a successful student you will need to have motivation, inspiration and a keen interest in the hairdressing industry; be a team player and work well on your own initiative; enjoy working with members of the public and be a great communicator and listener with a mature and happy personality.
During your course you will be involved in many events including educational visits, open events, promotional events both in the college and at external venues, charity events, client salon sessions, student and class led events. There will also be guest speakers and industry training opportunities, competitions and a fantastic end of year show.

English & Maths is included as part of your study programme at EFC. All students will be working towards a GCSE Grade C in English Language & Maths alongside their chosen subject. If you’ve already achieved these grades, we will work with you to develop your literacy and numeracy skills further throughout the year.
You will have the opportunity to undertake relevant work experience throughout your programme. Your tutor will help you identify the employability skills you need toimprove, and our dedicated work experience team will help find a placement that’s right for you.
Pass at an appropriate Level 2 Hairdressing qualification.
Continual practical on going assessment of your skills and industry standards through observations, assignments and online exams and theory assessment in the Salon.

There are lots of different options to continue your studies after level 3 qualifications. These include specialised vocational degrees , Honours Degrees (usually 3 year courses, although they may include a sandwich year on work placement).
It is very important to find out about all of your options after you have completed your course. Some careers will require specific qualifications and training for you to work in the sector, whereas other jobs and careers do not have a set training route.
You may also choose to apply for an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) or Higher Apprenticeships (Level 4/Foundation Degree).
