Course description

You will complete 12 units of study over one year. The core units are:Unit 1 - Human Lifespan Development;Unit 2 - Health and Social Care Values;Unit 15 – Carrying Out a Research Project.The Mandatory Units are:Unit 3 – Effective Communication in Health and Social Care;Unit 7 – Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care;Unit 8 – Individual Rights in Health and Social Care;Unit 9 – Healthy Living.You will also be given the opportunity to up-skill your GCSE Maths and English.

Entry requirements

You will be at least 16 years old.You will have 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above, one has to be English Language oryou will have achieved a Foundation (Level 1) qualification in Health and Social Care or Childcare with English Language GCSE at Grade D.All applicants require a clear enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS).Disclosure and Barring Service:The College is a registered body under the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and will enable students to apply for a Disclosure check. The College will ask for DBS registration for students on this course. If you are applying for a place you need to be aware that you should be willing to discuss previous convictions, reprimands, cautions or final warnings prior to enrolling on the course. This will allow us to provide you with appropriate information, advice and guidance on an individual basis.

Assessment

Units 1 and 9 are externally assessed through a written examination. All other units are internally assessed through coursework and assessment.
