English Language A Level at Chilwell School

Course description

English Language is designed for those who wish to take their English studies further without a heavy literature content. If you love words and would like to know more about the development and variety of our language then this is the course for you. You will study how children acquire language skills and look at how language functions in our society. There is also a sustained focus on understanding the diversity of our language use and how language changes over time through the analysis of both spoken and written texts. Coursework will enable you to undertake an investigative study of language in action and allows you the flexibility to focus on an area of language use that you would like to explore further.
