Accounting and Business Level 2 AAT Diploma at Hertford Regional College
Course description
The level 2 Diploma in Accounting and Business is suitable for a wide range of students who are looking to expand both their accounting and business skills. It will offer the opportunity to gain the skills demanded by employers, while achieving a nationally recognised qualification that could ultimately lead to the full AAT Accounting Qualification and AAT full membership.
Course content
The Level 2 Diploma in Accounting and Business is made up of ten mandatory units:
- Processing bookkeeping transactions
- Control accounts, journals and the banking system
- Basic costing
- Work effectively in accounting and finance
- Computerised accounting
- Applied business communications and personal skills
- Spreadsheet software
- Developing study skills
- Introduction to payroll systems
- Computerised payroll skills
Entry requirements
During the interview, applicants will be assessed for accounting, written English and Maths skills at which applicants must achieve at least Level 2 in English and Level 1 in Maths. This is to ensure that applicants can work under pressure as all units are examined, and that English is of a standard to meet AAT requirements.
Applicants aged 16 - 23 must have a GCSE grade C in English and maths
Assessment
All units are assessed by computer based assessments under exam conditions and controlled by the exams department. For those who are not confident with exams, this is NOT the course for you.
Financial information
Free to those under 19 on 31st August 2016. If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2016, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last three years, and are a fee paying new entrant you will pay £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). However, fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). You will be required to pay an administration fee, exam fees, kit fee, materials fee and an Awarding Body Registration fee if applicable. For these costs please contact our Information Centre.

Further information
You will have the opportunity to take part in additional activities including work experience, project work and sports. You will also study functional skills if you do not have a minimum of C GCSE in English and/or Maths. Relevant trips and/or visiting speakers will be arranged.
