Course description

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and our behaviours. It seeks to uncover how we think, feel act and interact individually or as part of a group. It offers a fascinating insight into the reasons behind why we do what we do. It considers all aspects of behaviour to include the thoughts, feelings and motivations underlying our behaviour. It is a subject which develops analytical skills and scientific method and is relevant to all of us. Psychology would be of benefit to those who are considering career paths such as marketing, forensics or education.

  2. Schizophrenia, Eating behaviour and Stress
  3. Aggression, Forensic psychology and Addiction

Entry requirements

Grade B GCSE Biology or Grade A Additional Science

Grade B GCSE English Lang.

Grade B GCSE Maths

Assessment

Year 12 - AS

  • 2 Written papers, each contributing 50% to the AS qualification

Year 13 - A Level

  • 3 Written papers, each contributing 33.3% to the full A Level qualification

Financial information

Additional excursions run on a year to year basis. In the past they have included a trip to Edinburgh to visit Camera Obscura and the Centre for Life.
