Health & Social Care Apprenticeship at Skills for Work
These qualifications are suitable for people who work in adult care settings.This qualification is about direct care, where the focus is hands-on care, (doing things for services users) enablement care, and development and maintenance of the services users independence (supporting and enabling services users to do things for themselves).
On completion of the course you will receive an NVQ which recognises the practical work you have done, a technical certificate which builds your knowledge for the NVQ and Functional Skills (Maths, English and ICT)qualifications which willdemonstrate the high standard ofyour reading, writing, numeracy and IT skills.
You will learn about the role of a health care worker in a wide range of context. The following are some examples:
- Communicate with and complete records for individuals
- Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals
- Develop your knowledge and practice
- Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and well-being of individuals
To access this qualification you must be at least 17 years of age.
You will be allocated a NVQ assessor who will visit you in the workplace to assess your skills and knowledge, provide coaching and support you through your quantification.
For the L2 Diploma you will need to achive 46 credits
For the L3 Diploma you will need to achieve 58 credits
Within the industry there are opportunities to progress to Level 3 training or Level 4 which in turn could lead to progression to a Senior Care, Deputy Manager or Manager of a Residential Home. Opportunities also to move to Domiciliary services within the community as Home care assistant, Senior, Manager or Area Manager.
