Supported Learning - Skills Plus A at North Kent College
This course is for learners aged 16-18 or 19+ with specific learning difficulties and/or additional needs. All applicants must have a current Learning Disability Assessment (LDA) or an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
All learners will develop a Personal Learning Plan, with the help of their personal tutor, to ensure their learning needs are met. They will study the Edexcel Certificate in Skills for Independence and work at Entry 2 level. The qualification consists of various units which may include:
- Parenting Awareness
- Managing Money
- Planning and Taking Part in a Visit
- Investigating Health, Social and Emergency Services
- Personal Safety in the Community
Entry is by interview. No formal qualifications are required. All applicants must have a current Learning Disability Assessment (LDA) or an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
Edexcel qualification is portfolio based. Functional Skills qualifications are exam based.
16-18 - no tuition fees
Learners may progress to other College programmes, open or supported employment.
