Graphic Design BTEC 90 Credit and Extended Diploma Level 3 at Boston College

Course description

If you are passionate about Graphic Design, and enjoy working in a creative, exciting environment, then this course is for you. 

You will work within our fully functional Graphic Design Studio, including access to iMacs with industry technology and Creative Art Studio spaces. You will generate personalised projects relating to topics that interest you, and engage with local businesses to work on 'real world' projects. You will learn how to construct advertising campaigns, logos, digital design concepts, graphic novels, print production and core graphic concepts. 

Your lecturers all have a working knowledge of the Media industry and are still actively involved in the business outside of the College, resulting in accurate, up to date knowledge being share in lectures. 

Course content

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above (New GCSE grade - 4 or above) or a Merit on Level 2 Diploma course, and a portfolio of work. 

If you are concerned about the above entry requirements an alternative course available is the Level 2 in either Creative Media Production or Art and Design as a pathway to progress.

Assessment

You will be assessed through practical tasks (70%), which will be underpinned with theory (30%) to give you a broad grounding in Graphic Design.

Financial information

Additional costs will include the following: 
Trips - £30-45 approx 
Kit - £100 approx. 

You may be eligible for financial assistance through the College's Bursary scheme and Be Brilliant Foundation.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course can lead to continuing your education at University in such course as Graphic Design, Art and Design, and Media; Employment within a wide range of job roles such as Animator, Architect, App Developer, Cartoonist, Concept Artist, Illustrator, Interior Design, Interface Designer, Logo and Sign Designer, Motion Graphics Designer, Packaging Designer, Printmaker, Production Designer, Product Designer, Storyboard Artist, Textile Designer, Typographer, Web Designer; you can also progess on to a Graphic Design Apprenticeship linked to employment; opportunities in teaching are also available.
