Geography A Level at Rednock School

Course description

What will I learn on this A Level course?

  • An introduction to the key concepts and core themes of Geography
  • An understanding of geographical fieldwork techniques and a range of research methods
  • An opportunity to develop your understanding and geographical awareness through discussion of contemporary issues
  • You will study topics such as: Globalisation, Crowded Coasts, Rebranding Places, World at Risk, Energy, Water, Superpowers, Biodiversity, Development Gap, Technological Fixes, Cultural Diversity and Life at the Margins.

Entry requirements

We strongly recommend that students have at least a ‘B’ grade at GCSE in this subject. A ‘C’ grade would be acceptable in some individual cases where there may be mitigating circumstances but would ideally be supported by a B grade minimum in English at GCSE.
If students were opting for this subject at 6th Form which they had not studied at GCSE then a B grade in another Humanities subject along with a B in English would be desirable.
