•Employment, Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Booklet •Level 1 Functional Skills in English and maths •Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) Mandatory Units Site & Bench Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace Manufacturing routine bench/architectural joinery products in the workplace Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace Optional Units Learners have to achieve 52 credits from the following units for Site. Learners have to achieve 12 credits from the following for Bench. Site / Bench Installing first fixing componenets in the workplace (18) Producing setting out detail routine bench/architectual joinery products in the workplace (14) Installing second fixing coponenrts in the workplace (23) Marking out form setting out details for routine bench/architectual joinery products in the workplace (12) Erecting structual carcassing components in the workplace (20) Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace (24) Maintaining non-structual carpentry work in the workplace (14) Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace (24)

Entry requirements

One GCSE at grade A* to C, plus maths and English at grade 3 or above.


plus Employed or written offer of employment in construction

plus Successful construction skills assessment

 

 

 

 

Assessment

You will be assessed by your assessor using a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments. You will be assessed both in College and in your place of work.

Future opportunities

Employment - This course can form the foundations for work as a Joiner.
