Sport and Exercise Science BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College
This course provides an excellent and varied programme, giving a wide variety of experiences within Sport and Exercise Sciences.
A broad range of units will provide an insight into sport sciences and how they interact with the sport and active leisure industry.
Alongside academic units, adventure training and development of personal and team skills are key to this exciting, demanding and challenging course, The programme is a two year programme and is equivalent to three full A Levels and can lead to university as well as potential employment within the sports industry
During your course you will cover a range of units including
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Sports Psychology
- Sports Injuries
Other units undertaken provide a balanced view of Sport and Exercise Science, and can include Practical Sports, Fitness Testing, and Exercise Health and Lifestyle. Other units selected will help you gain a real understanding of the employment opportunities available in the industry as well as prepare you for Higher Education.
All students will undertake a work experience placement in both academic years as well as having weekly tutorial and PSHE sessions.
You should have a broad education including BTEC First in Sport (Level 2) and / or five GCSEs (graded C or above). These must include English and Maths. In addition to this you should demonstrate a keen interest in sports science and the potential to succeed in achieving the qualification. All perspective students will be interviewed to evidence this.
Students may attend several offsite trips and activities as part of their course, and will be expected to purchase sports kit via the Campus for practical lessons.
The Campus offers a wide range of enrichment activities both sport and non-sport based.
