Introduction to Vehicle Technology (Entry 3) Entry Level Diploma at Middlesbrough College

Course description

The aim of the qualification is to develop the necessary knowledge and understanding required of vehicle repair technicians and to provide candidates with progression opportunities for career development and further study.

Course content

Vocational units: • Personal and Social Development • Light Vehicle Construction • Vehicle Checks • Wheel and Tyre Checks • Engine Components and Operation • Braking System Checks • Workshop Tools and Equipment and Systems and Operations, including vehicle Ignition Systems, Battery and Lighting Systems • Transmission Systems. As part of your learning programme you will also attend the following session: Maths (Exempt if you have a minimum of GCSE grade C in Maths) English (Exempt if you have a minimum of GCSE grade C in English Language) Study Skills 1:1 Tutorials Enrichment activities

Entry requirements

To gain entry to this course you need to have completed School or Education Centre and gained some relevant qualifications. You must provide a satisfactory school reference and undertake a successful interview and initial assessment. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."

Assessment

Observation and oral questioning, Short Student Task Sheets, group task and 1 online test.

During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for University we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance. Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (IMI) - Level 1 Candidates will be supported if they wish to progress to a level 1 course within an alternative Engineering pathway.
