Course description

Health and safety in building services engineering, Understand the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems, Plumbing system installation planning, Complex cold water systems, Domestic hot water, Sanitation and drainage systems, Central heating systems, Domestic gas principles, Career awareness in building services engineering.

Entry requirements

Candidates should already hold the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies or equivalent in order to complete the qualification satisfactorily. Without evidence of formal qualifications, candidates must demonstrate adequate prior knowledge and experience to ensure they have the potential to gain the qualification.

This course is for candidates who want to work as plumbers in the building services engineering sector. This qualification does not make candidates fully qualified plumbers or plumbing and heating engineers. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the plumbing and heating sector.


You will be assessed by a range of methods which include on line exams, written assignments, Independent summative assignments, Practical tasks and short answer question papers.

Financial information

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

Future opportunities

It allows candidates to progress into employment, or to the following City & Guilds qualifications: . Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating.
