Engineering BTEC Level 2 First Diploma at Chelmsford College

Course description

This course is designed to develop essential skills for the prospective engineer including a strong emphasis on health and safety, performing machining operations on a range of materials, communicating technical information, using computer aided design and computer numerical control.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements:

A minimum of 2 GCSEs grade D or above or pass at a Level 1 programme.

 

Specific Entry Requirements:

GCSE Mathematics at grade D or above.

Assessment

A mixture of continual course assessment, workshop competence and underpinning theory assignments, plus two externally marked exams, one of which is online.

Financial information

Learners will be expected to purchase their own safety boots (approx £20) for workshop activities.

Future opportunities

To progress to employment, an Apprenticeship or other Further Education

    • Our Princes Road campus houses many of our practical vocational areas. Laid out over a two-floor site with car parking and good links to buses, the campus boasts a new Electrical and Engineering block.

      A new welcome area with internet cafe, refectory and conservatory area for students to relax and socialise are also available.

      In addition to Electrical and Engineering, our Princes Road campus also houses our Construction workshops and Hospitality and Catering kitchens, with our Princes Room restaurant open to the public.

      The campus also houses a Learning Centre, Skills Development Centre, Assessment Centre and Tutorial Centre.
