Performing Production Arts Light & Sound UAL Level 3 Diploma at Hertford Regional College
The potential job roles for those working towards this qualification are: Lighting or Sound Engineer for theatre, music and festivals, Lighting or Sound Designer for theatre, festivals, music events and public art installations. The course is 1 year progressing to a second on successful completion.
Lighting and sound design and operation sound recording and editing techniques, video recording and editing techniques. You will undertake a range of technical theatre roles for live events put on at the College and in external professional venues.
- 200 GCSE points including a minimum grade C in GCSE English Language
- Or a L2 Vocational Diploma at Merit level in a relevant arts or construction specialism and a minimum grade C in GCSE English Language
- Evidence of interest and ability in art and design
You will be assessed each through practical assignments. The final term’s assessment will be in the form of a self -chosen project, which is externally assessed.
Free to those under 19 on 31st August 2016. If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2016, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last three years, and are a fee paying new entrant you will pay £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). However, fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). You can progress to a second year in theatre technology or you can progress directly to an apprenticeship or employment. On completion of the second year you will have an extended diploma, which is a nationally recognised advanced level qualification, allowing you direct access to university or employment.
If you haven’t achieved a GCSE Maths grade A* - C you will continue to work towards achieving this qualification.
You will receive group and individual tutorial support.
You will undertake independent learning and study.
You will work on commissions from employers and have the opportunity to go on a variety of theatre related trips and visits.
What will I need?
You will need drawing materials and a sketch books as well as an external hard drive. You will be advised of what you need when you enrol. Expect to spend about £100 in the first year and a much smaller amount in the second year when you will only need to top up what you have used. There will be an approximate charge of £20 for trips.
