Statistics at ALDRIDGE SCHOOL - A SCIENCE COLLEGE

Course description

The course in Statistics is designed to give pupils a wider experience of statistical techniques than is possible within the GCSE Mathematics courses. It is concerned with the different methods for data collection, and for a variety of ways to represent such data. More advanced statistical techniques, such as Rank Correlation and Estimation Theory, will be taught alongside Index Numbers and Standard Deviation. It will also include some further probability with simple distributions as well as Venn Diagrams and Cartesian grids. There is one piece of coursework, which may also be submitted for GCSE Mathematics (Statistics component). There is one written paper that is 2.5 hours for the Higher Tier (Grades A*-D) or 2 hours for the Foundation Tier (Grades C-G). This course is open to all, but will be of particular interest to those considering doing Science, Psychology, Geography or Economics in the Sixth Form.
