Course description

The course comprises the translation and study of texts, both prose and poetry, from the vast treasury of classical authors.

Entry requirements

An assessment of suitability for an A-level course will be made by interview, together with information about ability, effort, expected performance at GCSE and suitability for an A-level course.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education in Latin, Literature Studies, Modern Languages, History or more general higher education courses. With further training, you may wish to extend your interest in Latin and go into a job related to classical languages such as a Teacher or Researcher. You could also consider a job related to modern languages as the course will develop your understanding of different languages and cultures. The course also helps you develop the skills and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for. This may include using your language skills to work or study in foreign countries.
