Beauty Therapy Level 3 at Gateshead College

Course description

If you have successfully completed a Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification within the last 5 years then this one-year, Level 3 course is for you.

Throughout the course you will work with experienced therapists in our Baltic Salon & Spa who will support your development and give you an insight into the industry.

Course content

You will follow a programme of innovative, challenging and exciting beauty units that will include facial techniques, body electro therapy, body massage and epilation.

You will be trained by Demalogica to use their skin care products, which are only available from professional skincare therapists.

You will also get the opportunity to get hands on experience at professional salons and take part in enrichment courses to gain additional skills in areas such as spray tanning, hot stone therapy and Caflon ear piercing.

You will have the opportunity to perfect your customer care skills including working on reception, booking appointments, welcoming clients and interacting with paying customers.

You will also be supported in entering national industry competitions.

Entry requirements

  • Previous Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy.

Assessment

You will be assessed through assignments, tests and practical observations on a range of beauty techniques that are carried out on paying clients.

Future opportunities

This course will prepare you to progress straight into employment in the beauty industry in a salon, spa, health farm, clinic, hotel cosmetic company or even on cruise liners.

This industry also lends itself perfectly to setting up your own business and being your own boss.

If you want to progress within education, you can go onto a Level 4 qualification or Foundation Degree in complementary health, care or beauty therapy.

Fast-track to an apprenticeship

If you can’t find the right apprenticeship vacancy or you want to do some studying first - no problem. You can start on a vocational study programme then once you’re ready and a vacancy becomes available, we’ll help you transfer on to an apprenticeship.

    • Gateshead College's Baltic Campus is located on the Gateshead quayside, just minutes from Newcastle City Centre and its attractions.

      The College is situated behind the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and The Sage Gateshead.

      The College has its own car park, but at busy times alternative parking is available nearby.

      There is a charge for parking. Students can apply for a permit to allow free parking during study time.
