Art and Design, L3 CAMTEC Extended Diploma at Oldham Sixth Form College (OSFC)

Course description

This course will suit you if you have a broad interest in art and design and want to learn and understand more about a range of different art and design disciplines. It’s perfect if you want to discover where your artistic strengths lie whilst pursuing projects that encourage you to explore, develop and refine them. You want to establish a clear understanding of how professional artists, designers and craftspeople work and to be equipped with the necessary skills and expertise to become the next generation of successful practitioners. The creative industries have become increasingly important to our economic well-being and as such have also become a major employer. Progression into these areas from this course traditionally include a Pre Degree Foundation course in Art and Design, then on to a BA (Hons) degree in a specialist subject, before moving through to industry. To facilitate this, the art and design department has a compact agreement with Oldham College which allows smooth progression on to their Pre Degree Foundation course.]

Unit 5 – Credit Value 12: An Integrated approach to 2D Problem Solving

Unit 6 - Credit Value 12: An Integrated approach to 3D Problem Solving

Unit 7 – Credit Value 12: An Integrated Approach to Time-Based Problem Solving

Unit 8 – Credit Value 24: Developing and Art & Design Project

Unit 9 – Credit Value 6: Art & Design Opportunities for Progression in Art & Design

Year 2 Extended Diploma

Unit 10 – Credit Value 24: Art & Design Characteristics and Context

Unit 11 – Credit Value 6: Preparation for Progression in Art & Design

Unit 12 – Credit Value 36: Engaging with an Audience in Art & Design

Unit 13 – Credit Value 40: Art & Design Proposal and Realisation
 

 

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 passes (above C or 4) at GCSE, including at least a 4 in Maths and English.

Level 2 vocational qualifications can count as one or two of the five GCSE passes.

Further information

This is a full-time course equivalent to 3 A Levels which along with self-directed studio time and Personal Tutoring sessions will become your entire programme of study.
