IT Level3 Technical Diploma at The Appleton School

Course description

The Cambridge Technicals in IT have been developed to meet the changing needs of the sector, and prepare students for the challenges they’ll face in Higher Education or employment. These qualification aims to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the principles of IT and Global Information Systems. Students will gain an insight into the IT sector as they investigate the pace of technological change, IT infrastructure, and the flow of information on a global scale and the importance of legal and security considerations.

It’s also about developing the behaviours and attributes needed to progress and succeed in education and in work. The qualification supports the transferable skills required by universities and employers such as communication, problem solving, time management, research and analytical skills.

Entry requirements

GCSE grade 6 in English and Maths.

Assessment

The following are the three mandatory units, which are externally assessed through written exam papers: 1. Fundamental s of IT 2. Global Information 3. Cyber Security

There are two further optional units that may be available are internally assessed & externally moderated through assignments: 1. Project management 2. Product development 3. System analysis and design 4. Internet of Everything
