Construction Level 1 Diploma at Blackburn College

Course description

There will be a range of teaching methods used, which may include classroom teaching, open learning and practical workshop sessions.

Course content

The course structure is broken down into units and you will cover 8 in total. Within these 8 units you will have the chance to develop skills in Painting and Decorating, Carpentry and Joinery and Brickwork.


Other units may include:-

  • Starting work in Construction
  • Developing Skills – working safely in Construction
  • Personal Effectiveness
  • Financial Managment
  • Social Responsibility at Work

Entry requirements

You would normally have an Entry Level certificate at Level 3 or GCSEs, which could include a limited achievement at D-G in both
Maths and English, along with an interest to follow a construction vocationally related course.

Future opportunities

This qualification may then provide a steppingstone into an apprenticeship or other Level 2 qualifications in, for example, Brickwork, Carpentry & Joinery.
