Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) BTEC National Level 3 at The Kingsway Academy

Course description

The design of this course is excellent for developing skills in preparation for employment after leaving school. It will develop an understanding of the theatre and performance. The delivery of the course also gives learners the opportunity to develop essential life skills such as communication and team work.

Course content

Topics covered during course: Musical Theatre performance ( A large scale production of a full Musical or selection of Musical Acts). Developing Movement skills (A dance based unit, studying movement). Singing Skills for actors and dancers (Workshops on improving singing skills in a Musical context and singing as a character).

Entry requirements

5 GCSE A-C including English and Maths. BTEC Level II in Drama, Music or Dance merit or above.


Formal lectures and informal group work are supplemented by planned workshop sessions with strong practical content. Assessment is by written and practical assignments which are marked as pass, merit or distinction.
