Level 3 Introductory Diploma in Sport at Beauchamp College

Course description

The OCR  Cambridge Technical in Sport / Introductory Diploma in Sport is a Level 3 course that offers students an opportunity to study sports in a vocational aspect, studying four units of work in the first year and then a further three units in the second year. 

This course is suitable for students that have a keen interest in the area of physical activity and sport but do not necessarily want to be assessed in their ability to play sport.

Course content

The units of work that students will cover are:
Year 1:  Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
              Sports Coaching
              Current Issues in Sport
              The Physiology of Fitness
Year 2:  Practical Sport
              Outdoor Adventurous Activities **
              Sport as a Business

*  in year 13 students will undertake a short course in canoeing and kayaking at Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre

Entry requirements

5 grade 5s (or equivalent), plus at least grade 5 in English Language or Literature.

Students must have a minimum of a good pass grade in the relevant subject (if taken) at level 2.

Assessment

The course is assessed through assignments and coursework tasks throughout the units of work, of which students will be required to complete both in and outside of the lessons.

We run many extra curricular sports clubs with sports teams playing termly fixtures including Regional and National Competitions.
