Level 2 Qualification in Health and Social Care at Sir John Gleed School

Course description

For next year, we will be offering a level 2 Qualification in Health and Social Care.

Due to changes to qualifications by the Government, the specific Level 2 that will be offered has yet to be decided upon but will be worth 1 GCSE A* - C.

We are looking at either doing OCR or Edexcel GCSE Health and Social Care or OCR Cambridge National in Health and Social care.

Course description:

All the available options listed above include an emphasis on providing opportunities for learners to develop skills, attitudes and approaches, which will enable them to meet their own aspirations and successfully work with and for others in the community and society in general.

In whichever version of health and social care that you do, it will involve studying:

  • How to Effectively Communicate with Colleagues and Service Users
  • What are the Rights of Individuals
  • How do we meet the Needs of individuals
  • Why is Health and Safety in health and social care settings important.

Entry requirements

Prior attainment/skills required:

An interest in health and social care and working with people, plus KS3 Level 4 in Maths, English and Science.

BTEC National Qualifications in Health & Social Care (Level 3)

BTEC National Qualifications in Children’s Care, Learning & Development (Level 3).
