Art & Design BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate at West Cheshire College

Course description

Using state-of-the-art equipment in our new Arts Centre, you will enhance your skills in creative art and design by learning and using the latest industry-standard techniques. This will give you a solid grounding and prepare you for a future in art and design. You’ll also look at the history of art and design and be inspired by visits to well-known galleries and institutions across the North West, including the Bluecoat Arts Centre and St George’s Hall. On completion of this course you’ll be able to go on to one of the appropriate Level 3 programmes.

Course content

On this exciting course you’ll gain studio-based skills in a variety of areas including drawing, painting, textiles, fashion design, 3D crafts, graphic design, printmaking and sculpture.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade D or above (preferably including English and Art) or successful completion of a Level 1 programme including English and maths. Applicants not meeting the criteria but with a portfolio of art work will also be considered.


You will continually assessed throughout the programme.
