Mathematics A Level at Teignmouth Community School

Course description

The Mathematics course is of a linear format. The AS will be decoupled from A level, and all assessment will take place at the end of the course. Exam questions may draw on the content of the whole A level. The Oxford and Cambridge Schools Examination Board MEI (Mathematics in Education & Industry) assessments will consist of 3 exams:

- Pure Mathematics and Mechanics
- Pure Mathematics and Statistics
- Pure Mathematics and Comprehension

Course content

You will study algebra, graphs, calculus and problem solving together with topics from mechanics and statistics.

Entry requirements

A GCSE grade 8 is preferred for students on this A-Level course. A grade 7 will be accepted at the discretion of the Maths’ Curriculum Team Leaders.

Mathematics is a highly valued qualification in a wide range of career choices. It combines well with all the Sciences, Business, Economics and Geography.
