Arboriculture (Tree Surgery) Level 3 at Askham Bryan College

Course description

On this course you will learn practical skills and develop the underpinning knowledge that would be necessary for employment in the sector or for moving on to a more advanced course.

Course content

Course Themes:

• Tree felling operations and chainsaw use

• Tree climbing operations

• Tree planting and after care

• Plant, tree and soil sciences

• Tree pests and diseases

• Tree machinery operations

• Tree identification

• Work experience

• Urban and community forestry

• Investigative project

• English and maths provision where applicable

Entry requirements

Level 3 Study Programmes:

4 GCSEs at grade 4 (old GCSE grade C) or above to include 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade 3 (old GCSE grade D) in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable Level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English, Maths and Science at Level 2
