History at Eggbuckland Community College
It will challenge you. At A level there are no ‘right’ answers. Studying History is about developing your own opinions and interpretations about events in the past and backing them up with the power of your argument and supporting evidence.It is about people and their actions, decisions, attitudes and motives.History helps us to understand the world we live in now and the influences, ideas and events that have shaped the present.The expertise and enthusiasm of the History staff, combined with varied teaching strategies and learning activities will ensure you enjoy the course.History is a well respected academic qualification which is highly valued by both universities and employers who recognise the many transferable skills History students develop. These include: the ability to research and investigate independently, evaluating evidence to assess reliability and utility, formulating an argument, communication of ideas both through writing and speaking, reaching substantiated judgements and decisions.
