Motor Vehicle Fitting LV/HV - Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship at Middlesbrough College

Course description

Apprenticeships allow 16+ year olds to start work and earn a wage, while learning new skills that lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers in the industry, so they offer a structured programme that takes Apprentices through the skills needed to do a job well. Most of an Apprentice's training takes place on the job but they will also have to complete off-the-job training within the College.

Level 2 VRQ Diploma in Vehicle fitting (Knowledge & Skills) General course core units: G0102 Health & Safety in the Motor Industry G3 Roles & Responsibilities G4 Workshop tools & Equipment ERR Technical Units: (LV or HV) Suspension systems Steering systems Tyres (LV or HV) Braking systems Exhaust Components Level 2 VCQ Diploma in Vehicle fitting (Competence on site) General course core units: G0102 Health & Safety in the Motor Industry G3 Roles & Responsibilities G4 Workshop tools & Equipment ERR Technical Units: (LV or HV) Suspension systems Steering systems Tyres (LV or HV) Braking systems Exhaust Components

Entry requirements

To gain entry you must possess Maths& English Language qualifications as graded. Initial assessments must be Entry 2/3. All candidates need to attend an interview and provide a satisfactory reference. Candidate must have Full time employment. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."

Assessment

The VCQ is assessed through work-based evidence compiled as a portfolio. The Technical Certificate VRQ is assessed on practical assignments in College, unit end tests and an online exam for each unit covered.

Future opportunities

On completion of the Level 2 Vehicle Fitting VCQ candidates can progress to the IMI level 2 Diploma in Maintenance & Repair. Intermediate Apprentice in Motor Vehicle. The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for University we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.
