Psychology AS/A-Level at Greig City Academy

Course description

Psychology is the first part of a full A level Psychology qualification and the second part will be called the A2. The AS and the A2 exams are worth 50% of your final mark.

Psychology uses empirical evidence to analyse behaviours of individuals in a variety of settings. If you are interested in understanding “People” and how the human mind works, then psychology would be of interest to you.

Course content

Section A: Social Psychology

Section B: Physiological Psychology

Section C: Cognitive Psychology

Section D: Developmental Psychology

Section E: Comparative Psychology

Each section will contain three essay questions, one on each Sub-section of the subject content. Candidates must answer three questions, from at least two different sections.         

Entry requirements

Students  must have A* - C in English Language.

Assessment

External Exams by AQA plus coursework that is marked internally contribute to your overall grade

Future opportunities

Many areas related to working with people in a variety of settings include careers for Teaching, Social Work, Marketing, Law, The Police service, and on to further study at University.
