## Course description

Year 12

• Core Maths 1 : Introduction to Calculus. Arithmetic series. Algebra of lines, tangents and normals and quadratic curves and functions.
• Core Maths 2 : More work with calculus. Geometric series. Algebra of circles. Working in Radians, Solving trigonometric equations.
• Statistics 1 : Working with data. Probability. Correlation and Regression. Discrete random variables and The Normal Distribution.

Year 13

• Core Maths 3 : Calculus and trig functions. Trigonometry, Numerical Methods and an introduction to proof. Logarithms and exponential functions.
• Core Maths 4 : Calculus with trig, exponential and log functions. Introduction to differential equations. Coordinate geometry(parametric form) and Vectors.
• Mechanics 1 : Constant acceleration formulae. Newton’s laws of motion. Resolving forces for static and moving objects. Moments and vectors.

• Core 1 – Written Paper 1hr 30 min. Examination paper (75 raw marks / 100 UMS). 8-12 questions start easy getting harder and more involved. 1/3rd of the total AS marks, 1/6th of the total A Level.
• Core 2 – Written Paper 1hr 30 min. Examination paper (75 raw marks / 100 UMS). 8-12 questions start easy getting harder and more involved. 1/3rd of the total AS marks, 1/6th of the total A Level.
• S1 – Written Paper 1hr 30 min. Examination paper (75 raw marks / 100 UMS). 8-12 questions start easy getting harder and more involved. 1/3rd of the total AS marks, 1/6th of the total A Level.

A2

• Core 3 – Written Paper 1hr 30 min. Examination paper (75 raw marks / 100 UMS). 8-12 questions start easy getting harder and more involved. 1/3rd of the total A2 marks, 1/6th of the total A Level.
• Core 4 – Written Paper 1hr 30 min. Examination paper (75 raw marks / 100 UMS). 8-12 questions start easy getting harder and more involved. 1/3rd of the total A2 marks, 1/6th of the total A Level.
• M1 – Written Paper 1hr 30 min. Examination paper (75 raw marks / 100 UMS). 8-12 questions start easy getting harder and more involved. 1/3rd of the total A2 marks, 1/6th of the total A Level.
