Performing Arts - Musical Theatre Level 3 Diploma at Amersham and Wycombe College

Course description

You will have some experience or skills in singing, dancing and acting and dream of performing in musical theatre. This is the course to help you develop your talents and realise your dreams, whether they be going straight into employment or further study in Higher Education and dance/drama colleges.

Course content

The world of Musical Theatre can be an extremely demanding career choice, technically, physically and emotionally. This programme is designed to prepare entrants for the reality of the musical theatre industry with progression into work or Higher Education. Alongside academic study, Musical Theatre students will undertake classes in singing, dance and acting, combining these skills for public performance. There are multiple performance opportunities throughout the academic year in the college's purpose built performance spaces.
Year 1 course = 90 credit Diploma
Year 2 course = a further 90 credits providing in total a 180 credit Extended Diploma

Entry requirements

4 GCSE's at Grade C or above one of which must be English or Maths OR successful completion of a Level 2 qualification including a pass at English and Maths. You will also be required to attend an audition.

 

Assessment

You will be continually assessed by our team of teaching/performance professionals through written course work and practical performance.

 

Financial information

Various items of clothing; rehearsal blacks, tap shoes etc. A full list can be provided at interview. Other costs include trips, workshops and theatre visits (including train fares, mostly to London). There are usually two trips per academic year.

 

Future opportunities

You can progress onto Higher Education courses in Musical Theatre and related disciplines or to dance/drama colleges, all of which are the routes to a range of careers in musical theatre performance or administration.
