Course description

Plumbing and heating is an ever developing industry, which requires qualified specialists to carry out work safely and effectively.

A highly competitive industry, employees work with a wide range of materials and technologies from domestic boilers to advanced welding techniques to computerised control systems.

Job roles can include installing sanitation and heating systems, servicing boilers, laying drainage pipes and even working with environmentally friendly technology such as solar water heating and rain water harvesting.

Course content

Intermediate Apprenticeships in Plumbing and Heating can include training in a wide range of units including Safe Working Practices, Environmental Protection Methods, Scientific Principles within Mechanical Engineering, Site Preparation and Pipework Fabrication, Domestic Cold and Hot Water System Installation and maintenance, Central Heating system installation and maintenance, rainwater system installation, above ground drainage and more.

Entry requirements

Minimum Entry level 3 or GCSE grade E in Maths and English. All applicants will be required to pass initial assessments in Maths and English.
