English Language and Literature A Level at Camborne Science and International Academy

Course description

This course allows students to build on their achievements at GCSE. Students will study a wide range of texts and have opportunity for creativity within this course. The course focuses on the study of written and spoken language, allowing students to explore the contexts of the texts and the impact of society on a writer.

The course is made up of four units. Two coursework units (worth 50%) and two exams (worth 50%). Two units are completed per year, with students taking an exam each June.

Students have five lessons a fortnight dedicated to this subject and will be taught by two specialist teachers. Students are encouraged to spend independent time, not only completing their set tasks, but also reading a variety of texts that engage them as a reader.
