Psychology at Brighouse High School

Course description

Psychology is the perfect course for you if you are interested in people and their behaviour. Some of the questions we aim to answer include:

What is “normal” and who decides this?

Why do people behave in “abnormal” ways?

How can behaviour, thoughts and personality be studied in a way that is scientific and objective?

As Psychology is a new subject to most sixth formers we aim in the first year to give you a broad overview of Psychology and the different specialist areas psychologists work from when carrying out their research.

Throughout the Psychology course you will also learn the skills of analysis and evaluation and use mathematical skills to interpret and calculate?

We have high expectations of Psychology students, you will be required to carry out independent study to consolidate your learning in lessons as well as complete regular homework that is set. You need to be motivated and enthusiastic and have a passion for learning about human behaviour.
