Many university courses combine a Modern Language with subjects as diverse as Economics, Business Studies, Physics and Chemistry. There are very attractive law degree courses which include a Modern Language. Medical schools are also looking for students who have studied a language to Advanced or A/S Level. There is tremendous personal satisfaction to be gained from the study of Modern Languages at Advanced Level. The world of foreign books, theatre, films, magazines, newspapers is now accessible. Travel becomes much more rewarding.
WHAT DO I NEED TO START THE COURSE?
Students are expected to have successfully completed a GCSE course in the appropriate language and gained a grade B. Students need to be enthusiastic about their language(s) and should enjoy communicating in the target language - most, if not all, the lessons are taught in the foreign language and students have a weekly session with the assistant. There are ample opportunities for travel and work experience abroad. A lively, enquiring mind is an essential!!
