History A2 Level at Samuel Lister Academy

Course description

History is a well respected qualification by universities and employers alike.  It enables students to acquire an understanding and appreciation of the social, culutral, religious and ethnic diversity through the study of British and non-British History.  Students develop as effective and independent learners with curious and enquiring minds.

Course content

The focus of the course is Reform of Revolution. You will study Germany 1900 to 1945 and the changing nature of warfare from 1789 to 1918.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C at GCSE including a B in Englsih.

Assessment

History is a 4 unit A Level.  The AS is assessed by two 80 minutes examiniations.  At A2 level there is one 2 hour examination and coursework.

Future opportunities

History provides a pathway to study at University and can lead to careers in areas as diverse as the law and media.
