Child Development at St Aldhelm's Academy

Course description

Child Development L1.

This course gives students who may be interested in working in some capacity with children, as good introduction. They will become familiar with the world of childcare, education and play work. The course is broken into different topics and students are required to build a portfolio of their work.

Child Development L2.

This course has three assessed elements, two coursework based units; An introduction to working with children Unit 1 and The Developing Child Unit 2, as well as multiple choice exam. This is studied over two years with the assessments taking place in the second year.

Students will become familiar the latest legislation, best practice standards, the Early Years Foundation Stage and regulatory guidance. The course has a focus on case studies and reflective practice showing how the concepts and knowledge can be used in an early years setting.
